What is the WAPS platform like?

Our WAPS platform is easy and intuitive. You can access it through a username and password that we will provide you from the communication channel with WAPS students. In it, in addition to the classes, unpublished videos, additional texts, scientific articles, etc., there will be a debate forum where students can share their doubts and questions, which will be answered by the teacher of each class.

All WAPS training is 100% online (except for the elective face-to-face practices of each master's degree), without a defined schedule (you can train wherever and whenever you want).

At the end of each course there will be a multiple choice exam that must be passed in order to pass to the next course. The student will have several attempts (with different questions in each exam) to be able to pass it successfully.

STUDY PLAN: AGENDA

The class of mechanisms of action of the plantar orthoses (first part) will allow the student to understand the keys in the operation of the templates to obtain a correct criterion when prescribing elements of the same. Professor Dr. Ángel Orejana makes a tour of the possible modifications that can be made in the positive or in the template itself, relating to different clinical entities, the benefit that the patient obtains.
Continuation of the class of mechanisms of action of plantar orthoses. * It is recommended to have previously taken the first part of this class.
There is a wide variety of possibilities when choosing the material that makes up the plantar orthosis. The constant evolution of manufacturing laboratories makes it necessary for the podiatrist to be very up-to-date on this subject in order to have a wide therapeutic arsenal in terms of mechanical properties, such as cushioning, memory, reactivity, hardness, etc. In this class, Professor Dr. Raúl Blázquez will take a tour of all these aspects.
The molding of the foot is a fundamental process in the biomechanical study. The success of the orthotic treatment is totally dependent on the good execution of this process. Professor Dr. Joan LLuch performs different techniques in this class (unloading, semi-loading and controlled loading) to show the clinical strategies to be followed in each modality. Without a doubt, a fundamental class to perfect the handling and the traditional technique of molding.
Resin is a material that provides us with multiple possibilities in its final composition. The different layers that compose it confer certain mechanical properties. Combining with different parts and damping materials, a very effective treatment can be achieved with reduced thicknesses. Professor Dr. Andrés López gives us the best advice in this master class.
The live fitting technique is a very effective orthosis fabrication method if handled correctly. The possibility of including intrinsic corrections or balances of the template are somewhat more complex techniques that are very interesting to know in order to have more therapeutic possibilities with this technique. Professor Dr. Eugeni Llorca explains this technique from a totally practical point of view.
Polypropylene is undoubtedly a widely used material in the manufacture of plantar orthoses thanks to its mechanical properties and resistance. It is a type of template that many podiatrists work with "personal tricks" and that allow minimizing errors when making the adaptation. In this class, Professor Dr. Raúl Blázquez, teaches us from a practical point of view how to make this type of template reducing work times.
EVA plantar orthoses are a widely used option in the treatment of different patient profiles (athletes, children, the elderly, etc.), thanks to the versatility that allows us to combine different layers of EVA material from different Shore. In this class, Professor Dr. Bernardino Basas explains to us the process that he applies in athletes to make this type of treatment.
The molding of the foot is a fundamental process in the biomechanical study. The success of the orthotic treatment is totally dependent on the good execution of this process. In this class, Professor Dr. Víctor Alfaro, takes a tour of the different types of digital scanning and shows us the precision that can be achieved with this technology.
The robotic manufacturing of templates is the manufacturing method that allows greater replicability with absolute precision. CAM manufacturing technologies have evolved a lot and currently allow for highly efficient 3D printing of templates. With Professor Dr. Javier Alfaro you will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of 3D printing and machining of templates through the different options available in the current market.
Silicones are a widely used therapeutic option in the treatment of digital deformities. There are different criteria when choosing the composition and shape. In this class, Professor Dr. Bernardino Basas teaches us the best strategies for executing a corrective and a palliative silicone, in a real clinical case of an athlete.

What degree will I get?

After successfully completing this course of "CLINICAL ORTHOPODOLOGY”You will receive an accrediting title in which WAPS certifies that the student has fulfilled the duration of the content and all the evaluation requirements.

This course is accredited by the Commission for Continuous Training of the Health Professions of the National Health System. It is an expert evaluating body that guarantees the quality of the knowledge transmitted to health professionals. The Credits obtained by taking the courses generate merits for the employment exchange of the National Health System. In this way, the courses taught at WAPS are endorsed globally by an expert committee that includes representatives of the Professional Associations or Professional Associations, the Universities, the National Council of Specialties in Health Sciences and the Scientific Societies of state scope.
